I know you are thinking by now, “gosh, here she goes again, mentioning Ano Hana”. But I can’t help it, because in this category as well, favourite anime opening theme song, I have to admit that Ano Hana’s opening was the best I’ve seen and heard so far. An honourable mention, though, must be give to Romeo x Juliet, because I immensely enjoyed the opening theme of this anime as well, both the visuals and the song. Read the rest of this entry »

I immediately thought of Natsume Yuujinchou when reading today’s anime challenge, and I know, I’ve been talking a lot about this anime in this challenge, but I can’t help that I like so many aspects about it! Maybe Natsume Yuujinchou is not a shoujo anime in the strict sense of the word, but I definitely think that this anime is aimed more at girls than at boys. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s been a while since I’ve last had an anime wallpaper on my computer, because I usually have either an abstract wallpaper or a HDR-photograph as wallpaper. Now I have a wallpaper of the K-Drama which I am watching now, which is Iljimae. I think the last wallpaper from an anime I had was from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. Read the rest of this entry »

This time I blame not the internet, but school for not letting me post my daily challenge (let’s say that a paper for Swedish Literature takes a little more time than I had hoped for…) Anyway, I think Natsume Yuujinchou is a perfect example of a so-called “slice of life”. It just focuses on the everyday adventures of a boy called Natsume and his youkai-cat Madara (or should I say Nyanko-sensei?). Read the rest of this entry »

I did not have to think about this for a long time: my favourite anime couple is definitely Jinta and Menma from Ano Hana. They are so adorable together! Even when they were still children they got along very well, and already then they were attracted to each other. These two characters are simply perfect together. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m very sure about this: I definitely choose Natsume from the Natsume Yuujinchou franchise. I think he is a great character with a lot of complexity and depth. He’s very loyal (to both his friends and his foster parents) and he wants to do everything in his power to make the world a better place for everyone. Read the rest of this entry »

I remember my very first anime very well! It was Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. I watched it 3 years ago (so you can tell that I’m not that long into anime yet!). I think it was a very good introduction to anime, because it contains several of the elements that anime is so well known for (original art style, famous seiyuus (voice actors), beautiful music,…). I can’t help but think that when I see ‘reverse harem’ among the genre aspects of an anime that I am in for quite a stereotypical series. This also appeared to be the case with Hakuouki. I am dumbfounded that characters like Chizuru exist: how can you possibly completely ignore the fact that you are surrounded by lots of handsome young men? And instead of acting like a responsible girl, Chizuru calls upon the protective feelings of those men by being helpless and naive… Way to go, Chizuru. Read the rest of this entry »

Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet has been used (and abused) so many times in contemporary fiction that people have started to get enough of it. I doubt there is anyone in the English-speaking world (and even outside of it) that doesn’t know the story of the girl and the boy that were not meant to love each other due to family matters. But this was quite a refreshing change from the ordinary adaptations of the play, since we get some fantasy elements thrown in. It’s quite a successful attempt at an original remake, I’d say.
